I’ve been talking a lot about game-changing organizations and what makes them different recently. They are very different and that is the most exciting part! That moment when organizations shift their energy from scarcity thinking to abundance thinking is the game-changer.
So what are the key things that differentiate Winning organizations from Game-Changing organizations?
A winning organization tends to measure itself by these three things:
- Profit
- Performance
- Productivity
Game-Changing organizations focus more on:
- People
- Potential
- Purpose
The organizations I love to partner with are asking themselves different questions and we help these conversations take place and then bring to life the results.
- People — how can we enable our people to do their best work and look after them and support them to grow and develop.
- Potential — how can we move from measuring what’s been done to measuring the potential of where the people might go in our organization and what they might do in the future. What products and services might be most successful and why? (This is where the fascinating linkage with our experimental performance theory PEARL™ sits).
- Purpose — how can we make more of an impact in our industry and in the world? How can we really connect with our big Why?
The key is identifying where your teams are on the continuum and helping you move from PLAYING the game (trying to win) to WINNING (high performance) to GAME-CHANGING (transformational) outputs.
The single biggest challenge is realizing that people need to come before profit. It’s a mindset shift. As we see more and more companies losing employees through the Great Resignation, it is showing that the do more, push harder” old school performance mentality isn’t going to work.
Employees want something different, organisations want something different. It’s about starting a new conversation.
